Recent Walks:

Jasons chorus line2.jpgAn enjoyable experience was had by all on the recent New Territories Clan Halls and Walled Villages trip with The Helena May.

Travelling by chartered mini bus to Fanling, Kam Tin and Ping Shan the group discovered another New Territories, a world away from new towns, scrapyards and straggling village developments.

Successive layers of culture and history were peeled away to reveal another fascinatingly unexpected Hong Kong.

AusKlnCity13Oct2010_3.jpgKowloon City with The Australian Association on Wednesday 13th October.

Kowloon's Walled City was demolished in the mid-1990's. The area, which incorporated the original, now beautifully restored, nineteenth century magistracy buildings, is now a magnificent public park, an ideal setting to learn about the "real Kowloon".

After satisfying a thirst for knowledge a thirst for lime soda was satisfied as well at a tasty, authentic Thai restaurant.  In recent decades Kowloon City has become Hong Kong's "Thai Village" and an exploration of this lesser-known aspect of Hong Kong life greatly added to the morning's experience.
